5 Can’t-Miss Events at the NY Tech Summit

Heading to the NY Tech Summit at the Turning Stone Casino on Wednesday, June 5? If not, we hope you’ll consider joining us. For those of you who’ll be in attednance, here’s what to look out for (other than the slots, shows, and gaming tables).

1. Keynote Speaker: Merril Hoge

“Who is Merril Hoge?”

“WHO IS MERRIL HOGE?!”

He’s only the all-time greatest *factor back* and 13th most prolific rusher in Pittsburgh Steelers history, of course. And I should know because I still have his football cards from when I was in grade school. (Fullbacks rule!)

I love me some Merril Hoge. It’s true.

But in all seriousness, Merril Hoge is one remarkable person. The former NFL star and TV personality has beaten cancer, overcome tragedy, triumphed over traumas, and conquered his personal demons. An inspiring individual to say the least, Mr. Hoge will leave you breathless with his moving story of beating adversity—whether it touches on technology or not.

2. Lightning Talks on the Exhibit Floor
In this new feature from the NY Tech Summit, conference attendees will have the opportunity to see hyper-focused 15-minute presentations from some of the best-known names in technology. These interactive exhibitions are going to take place on the exhibit floor in real-time, which means participants can completely immerse themselves in the entire experience.

Speakers include IT leaders from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Cisco, Jabra, and others.

3. “Embracing AI, Augmentation and Automation” with Frank Gullo
In his presentation in the Cayuga Room at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, June 7, Aleron CTO Frank Gullo is going to talk robots… sort of? More specifically, Frank will define AI, identify its business use cases (with a focus on HR), and provide practical examples and resources for people to walk away with.

In this presentation, attendees will:

  • Differentiate AI myths from AI truths
  • Identify the top 12 AI use cases in business
  • See which HR tasks will depend on AI
  • Analyze AI chatbot solutions
  • Visualize the modern workplace

4. “What IT Leaders Need to Know about Cybersecurity” with Michael Hensley
Our very own Mike Hensley, Senior Manager of IT Solutions, will be delivering his speech in the Seneca Room at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, June 7. In his presentation, Mike will explain which types of businesses are prone to cyberattacks, the average cost of IT security incidents, and everything you need to know about a data breach (from training and prevention to detection and response).

In his presentation, attendees will:

  • Visualize incident costs
  • Receive tips for how to enhance email security
  • Identify best IT security best practices
  • Discover six steps to risk assessment
